More Than Memory: Why Lifestyle Choices Matter More Than We Think

The US POINTER Trial shows that lifestyle changes affect far more than memory
alone—they support whole-body health. The trial focused on whether a structured healthy lifestyle program could support adults at increased risk for cognitive decline through nutrition, movement, mental engagement, social interaction, and cardiovascular risk management.
Findings presented in December 2025 revealed additional benefits including better blood pressure control, reduced sleep apnea events, and improved cognitive resilience.
These systems are deeply connected. Sleep, blood pressure, and brain health influence one
another, shaping daily function and long-term wellbeing.
This research reinforces that small, realistic habits—moving more, eating well, sleeping
better, managing blood pressure, and staying socially connected—can support multiple
areas of health at once. Healthy aging isn’t about one solution. It’s about how daily habits work together to support the brain and body over time.
And the most encouraging part? It’s never too late to start.
