Latest from the Blog

What is this blog about? Well, I got this idea from a movie I was watching that had the main character making a new recipe for 365 days or something like that. Anyway, I thought what if I make little changes in my life every day for 365 days?  I turned 60 recently and did a life check. I have not accomplished anywhere near the things I wanted to; in fact, I don’t think I ever envisioned my life at 60. In talking to some friends in my age range the consensus was they haven’t either.  So, I had the idea to start a blog where we can help each other. At first, I thought the blog should be for women over 50 but then I thought this really limits input. A lot of things I wish I would have started so much younger. I hope that this year long journey turns into something that helps us all even in small ways because small changes daily can render big rewards later.

I also had a recent life change in March. I have had 2 jobs for years, yes full time. During the day I was a manager for a healthcare company and managed a team of NPs and RNs. I love the job, was there for 8 years. Ironically, on my 8-year anniversary I was told my job no longer existed. I can’t say it was a total shock as we had lost many clients with the covid epidemic, but I was told my job was safe. So, I frantically looked for another. Then I decided to take my time. I also work at the hospital, so I had income. What I found is that I was struggling. What to do with myself? This is how I began the examination of my life. What I found it that I had many things that I had wanted to do back in my 20s and still haven’t begun. My jobs kept me busy, and I suppose kept me from looking closely at my life.

Aren’t we all told that after 50 we should start slowing down? Where did this idea come from? Society maybe, telling us we are becoming less relevant? But are you? NO. I still have a lot of ideas. Retiring is not Biblical either.  Look at farmers, they work basically until they drop. They are active. I have had patients in their 90s still driving and golfing etc. that were farmers. I am currently on vacation until the 23rd. This is when I want to make this active. So, I want you to write 5 goals. Something you can work on over the year. Then every day we will take baby steps to get there in 365 days

I read lots of self help books and listen to podcasts and yet not one has really helped me to make changes. I am loaded with information just not actions. So, let’s take some action and get our goals in written form and go ahead and add plans if you think of some.
