It has been more than 2 years since I last posted on this blog. During that time, my life took an unimaginable but not totally unexpected turn when I lost my son. The grief was overwhelming and could not find the words or the energy to write. Today, I want to share with you why I have been absent and the changes I am making to this blog going forward.
The loss of my son was the most difficult experience that I have ever had to go through. I was so busy living life in 24-hour episodes that I did not even consider writing. Grief and depression took over for a while and I was busy existing. I took a step back to heal and process the grief. It has been a slow journey, but I am ready to return to something that I once loved: writing.
In the time that I have been away, I thought a lot about how I want to move forward-not just in life but also my blog. My topic is still similar that I want to focus on changing but I want to optimize health also. Basically, making the most of life after 50, 60 and beyond. It is never too late to make changes in our lives. My focus it shifting to topics that matter to me now more than ever. I will be sharing research, insights and personal experiences on everything from supplements to strength training and mental well-being.
Returning to blogging feels like a new beginning. It is not just about sharing information; it’s about connecting with all of you. I hope by sharing my story, both the painful and the hopeful parts, I can help others who may be going through something similar. My posts will focus on health, growth and how to thrive as we age, because taking care of ourselves matters more than ever.
