Goals
- Closer relationship with God- Today was II Corinthians chapter 4. Paul is writing this letter to the Corinthians knowing he is going to die. It is the knowledge of God’s glory that pushes him onward. Do you know this incredible man’s story? He started out as a Pharisee. This man started out persecuting Christians. He was struck blind on the road on a mission to arrest Christians. Paul was struck blind for 3 days by the bright light of Jesus appearing to him. He was healed by Ananias of Damascus and after this Paul became one of the greatest apostles for Jesus. He was beaten, stoned and imprisoned and never once did he waiver in his faith. This is the man that sat in a cold dark prison cell hungry and cold and still praised the Lord. We could all learn a lot from his examples.
- Get Fit/Strong- Today was lower body day . I am breaking it into 2 sessions today . I did 45 minutes with Belt squat 140 pounds, I did 3 sets of 10 squats and 3 sets of 10 calf raises. The problem with impatience
I found myself feeling impatient with my progress today. I am still having pain in my left hip flexor and thought “why is this still bothering me?”. I had to back it down and realize that everything is not going to be fixed in 6 weeks. I really have seen many improvements in my strength and mobility. My right knee is still an issue also, very crunchy and weak but it is much better. My joints don’t ache but I still cannot lead with my right leg as it does try to collapse at times. I logically realize that I am not going to fix 2 years of not working out and eating wheat and sugar in 6 weeks. I decided today to be grateful for the improvement that I have experienced. I know I have posted a timeline on what happens when with bodybuilding. I thought it might be a good time to revisit when you can expect to see changes. When lifting weight you will feel results pretty quickly as you become stronger but it takes about 3-6 weeks to notice the changes in your appearance and 12 weeks for others to notice. I felt the change pretty quickly as I have lifted before but not seeing really noticeable effects when I look at pictures. I do notice how much better my posture is which is pretty awesome. This is because my lower back has really improved and is stronger now. My back had really become so weak because my primary job was mostly on the computer. I have heard that sitting is the new smoking. Sitting destroys your muscles. I am including a 13 minute video that does an awesome job of showing you what loss of muscles looks like in a 74 year old sedentary person and a 74 year old active person. It is very impressive. You can build muscle at any age.
