Day 34 and community

Goals

  1. Get closer relationship with God- Today was Corinthians chapter 11. This chapter is pretty confusing for me. It tackles public worship and the subject of head coverings. That men should worship with heads uncovered and women should have their heads covered. Men are the glory of Christ and women are the glory of their husband. The Bible reference I read states that this is a cultural thing then and not a Biblical rule. Women with heads uncovered then would be seen as being immodest.
  2. Get Fit/Strong- Today is a rest day so body weight exercises today. I have been looking at the 75 Hard challenge. It is a 75 day challenge that Andy Frisella came up with. The man is a character and has podcast you can find by his name. It is pretty interesting.
  3. House Organization- Went through my sock drawer again and got rid of lots of odds and ends, joined Flylady on Facebook
  4. Write- 15 minutes today
  5. Camper Reno- today I watched painting the inside and cabinets

Community

On my way to work yesterday I was listening to a podcast called Real AF with Andy Frisella. It was Episode 158 Excellence : The Anti Narrative. He has similar views that I do on what is going on with our current political climate. He has alot to say about it. I have thought for a long time that the food we are being fed is to keep us fat and tired. Look around you. There are more people overweight than not now. Look in your grocery store and you will see that clean fresh food is more expensive than the processed junk. The powers that be have literally made it where it can be very expensive to eat healthy. I have watched many documentaries over the years that show that the food industry has been the one that designed the food pyramid. This is a huge topic and one that I will tackle later but for now one thing that really stood out to me on this podcast was Frisella said if you aren’t working to be better than you are keeping all of those around you down. We are a community. This hit me as I never consider myself as a part of a community. I do not live in town and do not interact with many people. However, I am around my family all of the time and I have grandkids. What kind of example do I want to set? Maybe I have been looking at this all wrong? I have talked before how you become like the 5 people you spend the most time with but doesn’t this work the other way too? What if you became the best person you could be, always working to be better today than yesterday? You set an example for those around you. They become better and the people around them become better? Can you see the domino effect? We have become soft over the years and every where you look you are being told to relax, get comfortable and go with the flow. You are getting older slow down. What do we crave? We want the comfort of our home , maybe the TV. We all have that thing that makes us feel warm and comfy. Your comfort zone will kill you. Think about how many hours in one week you do that thing? How many hours do you watch TV? What could you be doing with that time to make your life better? Ah but you say “I deserve this”. I have said it to myself. “Go ahead binge that show you like , you worked all week” . An hour turns into 3 then the whole day is wasted. The sense of community is one that I have not had before, I like to stay to myself and do my thing but now I am rethinking what community is. We are all connected , everything we do impacts someone and they impact someone else. In this sense , yes I want to be better, set a better example for my Grands. You make think that you don’t do anything that impacts your community but by making a commitment to yourself to be better those around you whether it is family, or friends, or that store clerk you see every week, you are impacting someone. I put a link to the episode of that podcast, please remember the man does cuss but he really has some very good points.
