Day 15 and the power of your words

Goals

  1. Closer relationship with God- Today I read Romans chapter 10. The verse that jumped out at me was Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Our faith grows by feeding it with the Word. How do we feed faith in ourselves?
  2. Get Fit- lower body today squats , still using 25lb weights, 4 lower body sets of 3 with 8 reps, lower body on the roman chair. Today I decided to add the dreaded cardio daily, not just rest days.
  3. house organization- I spent 15 minutes throwing some stuff out of the garage, I work out there
  4. write book- I did the obligatory 15 minutes today and wondering how I am going to add more time in on work days? Maybe I will start just adding time to non work days
  5. camper reno- I joined Girl campers on FB and finished a video on camper skins from yesterday

The power of your words and gaining faith in yourself

Yesterday I covered self forgiveness and I am sure this topic will be covered again over the year because it is so important. In looking at this concept, I found the power of words and how the words we use in our self talk are so very important. Have you ever thought about the dialogue you have with yourself? The average human has 60,000-70,000 thoughts over the day. I have never really looked into what I say to myself. Think about the first thought that comes to your mind when you wake up. I think for me it is automatically “I am tired” or ” I don’t want to get up yet”. This doesn’t even cover how many times a day negative little fleeting thoughts zoom through my mind. Try to be an observer over your thoughts and see what the theme is over your day. What is the first thought that you have when you wake?

I listened to a topic on neuroplasticity and this physician said that by the age of 35 we run on preprogrammed routines based on our past. In order to get different results out of our life we have to change the thoughts that are automatic. So think about what you think first thing upon waking and change it to something that makes you feel more empowered and practice changing that very first thought. Don’t ask yourself how you feel tell yourself how to feel. For me, I am going to tell myself ” I get to get up and become a little stronger today”. This is not an easy task to change your preprogramming but if we continue to run on autopilot than we are destined to stay the same. All of that programming is based on past experiences which means we are always working in the past and not looking to the future. Make a decision to become an observer of your thoughts. Write them down, how many times a day are you nice to yourself? empowering? motivating?
