Day 11- Day of Reflection and book recommendations

Goals

  1. Closer relationship with God- Romans chapter 9, I have to admit here that this particular book of the Bible is very complex. This is not the first time I have read through this chapter but it is my first time studying it. Chapter 9 is different from the previous ones and it is sad to hear the voice of Paul and how heartbroken he is that the people turned from God.
  2. Get Fit- 15 minutes of stairs at work today. cardio
  3. house organization- maybe not part of the organization but the bathroom ceiling got painted.
  4. Writing- writing podcasts at work today
  5. camper reno- still reading RV wiring and did listen to a youtube about

I worked this weekend 12 hour shifts so I had to be creative with my goals but still attend to them. I did manage to work on different aspects though. As discussed yesterday , vision for your life is very important to stay on task. I viewed a 13 minute Youtube about creating a vision. There are several on the subject but I think this one is a good starter.

Sunday I have deemed a reflection day so that we can continue to evolve our goals, vision and plans to ensure success. For me Sunday is a great day for reflection but pick any day that works for you. I want to recommend 2 books that I have been reading and listening to. The first I found when researching setting goals and it works perfectly with my goal of 1 year. The book is Achieve anything in just one year by Jason Harvey. I found the book of Thrift Books for 3.99. I can also cover the the topic here too. Basically day 1 get a notebook that you take with you everywhere and write whatever dream pops into your head. Day 2 says we shape our future everyday by the choices we make so for day 2 observe your choices and evaluate if your are limiting your choices. Day 3 pick one of your dreams and decide if you can go in the direction of your dream? Day 4 do 1 nice thing for someone without expectations.

The second book I have on Audible , it is Be Exceptional by Joe Navarro. This book is the cheapest on Kindle 14.99. I have Audible so I got it with a credit otherwise it is 25.19 there. What I really like about this book is the author learned from several people such as Stephen Covey. He had Covey for a professor in the 70s. He also knew William McRaven , who authored the book Make your Bed. I am not finished with this book yet. I was listening today on my 35 minute drive to work and was impressed with a few things. Today he said that if you can’t complete the small things you will never get to the big things. This made me think how true this is and I do not want to even begin to think about all that I have missed out on because of this. How true is it when you stop and think about how many times you have let yourself off the hook? How many times have I been working out and cut it short by “just a few minutes”? Or sat down and watched TV ( doesn’t happen often”) instead of going for walk or complete some task. Navarro also talked about a habit the Covey told his class about in the 70’s. Every night he takes a 3×5 index card and writes the tasks that he wants to complete the following day. First thing in the morning he takes the card out and makes any changes he needs. Navarro said this habit is so ingrained that he feels out of sorts the few times he has not completed his card.

This all makes sense to me to plan each day. If you don’t have a plan for your day then what is planning your day?
