Day 4- Reflection and planning

Today is Sunday and I decided to use this day to think about what went right and what didn’t work so well. I feel that I need to make more detailed plans for what I want to accomplish day to day and week to week. My first few days of goals are very broad and maybe more focused on time? So my plan for day 5 is to have more specifics around my goals. I have been using just a regular notebook to write my goals and while that works , it might not be the most helpful thing for me. As I am sure I have mentioned, have not written my goals out they are loosely floating around in my head. Every now and again, something will remind of one and I will be like “yeah I really need to work on this”, only to lose track of it again with the daily bombardment of everything we are all exposed to. So I got the Black Daily Planner from Panda, it has 7,749 reviews around 4.5 stars and seems to be laid out in a way I can deal with. It is 19.97 for a black one and 20.97 for a blue one. I went through and article that I will post below that lists the “best” 13 journals for 2021 goal planning.

I am going to designate Sundays for reflection and planning. I do not feel I have done this enough and I doubt if it is something that most people do. When you think about how busy we all are and the way the world gets us to focus on things that really do not matter, it is easy to see how we get caught up in this world and every once in awhile have the moment of clarity to be surprised how much time has slipped away. I think for me it was the business of having 2 jobs and all of detail I got caught up in from the moment of waking to going to sleep. Losing that first job was really a blessing as it was a real pressure cooker and I was spending all of my time working on the company’s goals. I saw how important I was to them, not at all. That meme that floats around about not dedicating your life to someone else’s dream because they will not waste any time replacing you, totally true. I am not saying not to be dedicated to your job whatever it is but do not lose your goals in the process.

Typically, I would use the first of the year to think about what I wanted to accomplish but yearly is not enough time to dedicate to planning your life! So then I did quarterly and still this is not good enough for the careful planning of your life. I see where this has gotten me. So for me I have to concentrate on daily. I am now working one job and no management responsibilities, YAY! Can I just say spending 8 years in the management role of Masters prepared individuals that we do not all adult in the same way. Enough about that role.

I thought I was more efficient in getting things done the less time I had, and in some ways that is true. I got the daily chores done quicker knowing I had little time to get them done. I knew what small chores I could get done in little blocks of time but it left now time for me. This is why I will devote some time daily to myself and reaching my goals. For instance, my camper reno goal is because I had a dream to have a little vintage camper I could go solo camping to the mountains to hike and take my girl B. Bijou is my French Mastiff. I have had that “dream” for years now but never actively did anything to get closer to that goal. My work schedule fits into this very well. I work 4p to 1 am Mon-Thurs. This lets me leave early Friday and come back Monday.
